Eppendorf ^ThermoTop®

Are you tired of getting condensation in your tubes? Eppendorf combined the ^{ThermoMixer®} with the approach of using a heated lid in PCR to create cycles. The result was ^ThermoTop®. The unique anti-condensation technology prevents condensation from forming in the lid – the concentration of the sample is maintained throughout the incubation period. It also creates a more homogeneous temperature.

No wires are needed and there is automatic recognition built in. Recognition is done via inductive signal transmission. As soon as you place the ^ThermoTop® in position, your equipment recognizes it and automatically starts thermoregulation. The temperature is optimally adapted to the temperature of the samples, so that the samples are not adversely affected. Condensation drops then have no opportunity to form.

If a heated lid is not used, soluble molecules will evaporate to the gas phase during the heating process of a liquid sample and then condense again when they hit a colder lid/tube walls. This contributes to a decrease in sample volume but an increase in concentration.

Sensitive reactions can be affected by these changed conditions. In the case of very small sample volumes, condensation may cause the sample to evaporate and there may not be enough sample volume left to mix after the thermal treatment. Under these conditions, the biochemical reaction will not be optimal and the procedure cannot be reproduced properly.When using the Eppendorf ^ThermoTop®, both the cap and the walls of the test tube are heated, which prevents condensation from forming. ThermoTop works together with ThermoMixer C, ThermoStat C, ThermoMixer F0.5/ F1.5/ F2.0 and ThermoMixer FP. In combination with ThermoMixer C and ThermoStat C, ThermoTop can be used with thermoblocks for plates or tubes, with a volume up to 2 mL. The thermoblocks that work together with ThermoTop have a special label “condensate protect”.
